Traditional complexed organisation, operating through legacy perspectives, business models and needs of customers, capabilities, people, processes, metrics and technology. Cluttered and complex. Decision-making is based on intuition or incomplete information. Getting real work done but often finished in a delayed timeframe and over budget. Their processes are often unpredictable, fragmented, poorly controlled, and highly reactive in nature.

Understanding people traits emotion, wisdom, curiosity and intuition. Defined ownership of capabilities and approach to move from current to future state. Showing quick wins and immediate value through agile approach and understanding.
The organisation has started to establish metrics and processes, but they are not consistent or fully adopted. Basic and repeatable processes are firmly established, allowing successes from the group to be repeated on some level. Signals the ability for organisations to rely on existing requirements, processes, work products, and services, especially in times of need. Most of the work being done is still reactive and is reliant on reacting to and documenting reactive successes as opposed to working proactively towards an overarching goal.
Strength-based teams and capabilities. Matured with sequencing of roadmaps and journeys through intense and relevant collaboration. Efficient and significant feedback loops with proactivity actions. Metrics and processes are well-defined and consistently collected but there is room for improvement in terms of analysis and decision making.
On their way to a healthy composition and structure. Processes are well characterised and understood, and often are described with standards, procedures, tools, and methods. Often have their own unique process that pays better attention to documentation, standardisation, and integration. However, there are a couple steps to go before the process is perfect.

Business capability team with a high focus on customer-centric goals. Self-correcting feedback loops are well embedded. Leading digital customer experiences. Metrics and processes are well-analysed and used to drive decision-making, and the organisation has a strong focus on continuous improvement. Inclusion of data and other quantitative information in their processes. The improvement objectives are predictable and are made based on the needs of the customer, end users, organisation, and process implementers. Processes are measured and fully controlled
New ecosystems are established, and organisation can scale. Defined purpose on business and community purpose. Metrics and processes are fully optimised, and the organisation has a track record of using data to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
The ultimate level of maturity for organisations. The organisation is focused on continuous improvement and is built to pivot and respond to opportunity and change as it presents itself. This agility is based on the level of stability that the organisation has built up over time. This stability allows a baseline of processes that can then be tweaked to better serve the needs of the organisation at that present moment.
